Since Windows 3.1, every startup sound has conveyed an air of grandeur and self satisfaction that does not befit an operating system. And it is this: I hate Windows startup noises. I don't normally post on channel 9, but I love it, I watch the videos often, and it's great. So I look forward to a higher quality sound theme in Vista. I don't want to have to search for a sound theme, that's inconvenient. I don't want to turn them off, I need them. I like many of the XP sounds, but several of them are pretty annoying. When they get it right, users may not notice why, but they will have a nice experience of the product. Things, but mostly they only care when the developers get it wrong. People DO care about the quality of these Get it wrong and you soon have a lot of very annoyed users.
It's a similar principal in Windows, only the sounds are something people will hear millions of times a day. You'd be mighty unhappy - however well it runs.
If you bought an expensive car and the doors clanked like a '79 truck Try watching your favourite movie without a good score and dubbing, your experience of the film will be ruined. Frankly and based in no small part on what was said in the video, you people spend WAY too much time thinking about such a absolutely minute and tiny detail that nobody REALLY cares about.ĮVERYTHING is in the details, in terms of both engineering and experience.
